Aesthetically Speaking: Do you wanna know what all the hype is surrounding Korean skincare? Believe me I wasn’t sold on it either. As an esthetician I know there are some products that are hyped up by the internet skin enthusiasts but after using it you notice little to no results. So I didn’t readily jump on board. I took my time and researched their philosophy, different brands, and I compared Korean skincare to our Western skincare. Here’s what I found:
Korean skincare has a holistic and intentional approach. It focuses on restoring and strengthening the skin barrier(Stratum Corneum) by using products that are gentle yet still promotes hydration, protection, and prevention. Korean skincare is known for being innovative and is about 10 years ahead of Western skincare.
Korean products tend to be gentle yet effective, especially over time. These products are often less harsh and more cost effective. I find that they are experimenting with natural ingredients and I’ve seen successful outcomes from their Spicula peels as an alternative to microneedling. The KrX line in particular is very versatile. It fits in beautifully in my spa since my treatments are customized. The Youthplex products are great for aging skin and fine lines. The beta serum is my favorite serum to use at home but there are so many options that yields results.
Korean skincare works with your skin’s natural ecosystem so their products are not harshly stripping the skin of moisture. They often incorporate ingredients like ginseng, rice bran, green tea, and honey, bee venom, snail slime, and even volcanic ash. There sleek and minimalist packaging helps keeps cost down as well.
If you’re looking to up your skincare game, look no further. Korean skincare is the future of skincare. Paired with monthly professional facials and a good routine there’s no doubt you’ll be on your way to healthier, rejuvenated skin!
